How to update your Syllabus Proctored Exams policy for your current or upcoming course
If your course includes proctored exams, then the recent change to FSU's Testing Center services will require an update to the Proctored Exams policy in your course syllabus. See our recommended syllabus language for Honorlock exams to find out how FSU's proctored testing policy has changed to reflect this transition in the Testing Center's services. If you are using the Design Tools syllabus template in your Canvas course, then updating your syllabus to include this new policy is a cinch! Follow the directions below to quickly replace the outdated Proctored Exams syllabus block with the new syllabus block that contains the current syllabus language. As an added bonus, the new Proctored Exams syllabus block will automatically update for you going forward each time you go into your course and simply click the "edit" button on your Syllabus page! No sweat and no worries - if there are future changes to proctored exam policies at FSU, you can rest assured that you will have them in your syllabus even if you use a course copy to bring your syllabus over from this term to your future course sites.

- Update your existing syllabus template with the new Proctored Exams policy
We recommend this option to only update the specific Proctored Exams syllabus block if you are:
- Currently teaching a Summer A course
- Currently teaching a Summer B course
- Currently building out a Summer C or Fall course and have some custom syllabus sections and using a course copy to bring your syllabus over from a previous site. This will retain your customized syllabus blocks while still updating the Proctored Exams block.
Keep in mind: If you will be copying course content into your Summer C or Fall course site from a previous semester, we recommend that you do so before following these directions.
- Import the Summer 2021 syllabus template into your course site
We recommend this option if you are building out your Summer C course or Fall course before those terms start, and you are setting up your syllabus from scratch and don't have any custom sections in your syllabus.
Keep in mind: If you will be copying course content into your Summer C or Fall course site from a previous semester, we recommend that you do so before following these directions.
Update your existing syllabus template with the new Proctored Exams policy
- Navigate to your course site's Syllabus page.

- Click the Edit button in the upper right.

- Click the rocket icon in the upper right corner of the screen. It will expand into a Launch Design Tools icon when you hover your mouse over it.

- On the Design Tools menu select the Create/Edit Syllabus Content heading, then select Institutional Policies.

- Click the + Add Proctored Exams-Panama City Policies Block or + Add Proctored Exams-Tallahassee Policies Block depending on which location your course is technically associated with.
Keep in mind: The other university policy blocks also auto-update, so if you do not have them in your syllabus already we recommend adding them.

- On the Design Tools menu, under the Create/Edit Syllabus Content select Add/Rearrange Syllabus Blocks.

- Click the red X next to any old proctoring blocks you might have in your syllabus to delete it. The old proctoring blocks are called:
Proctored Exams-Panama City Fall 2020, Proctored Exams-Tallahassee Fall 2020, Proctored Exams-Panama City Spring 2021, and Proctored Exams-Tallahassee Spring 2021. Regardless of the old Proctored Exams block title, it will be out of date and needs to be deleted.

- Click and drag your new Proctored Exams-Panama City or Proctored Exams-Tallahassee block (using the grey up-and-down arrow next to it) to the space where the previous Proctored Exams/Honorlock block was located within the list. This will move the new Proctored Exams (with updated content) block up to the old Proctoring Exams location within your Syllabus. You can also adjust the order of any other syllabus blocks in this way.

- Click the Update Syllabus button located just below the text editor to save the changes you have made.
