How to check when your Kaltura media item was created

Due to Kaltura's Media Storage Policy, you may need to check to see when a Kaltura media item was created. While instructors are more likely to re-use their content regularly enough to avoid automatic deletion, students may wish to retain a media project that is not likely to be replayed after creation, submission, and grading.

Note: If a video or audio recording has been played at all over the past four years—even for two seconds—it will be retained.

Confirming Kaltura Media Creation Date

These steps offer the best way to confirm when your Kaltura media item was created.

  1. Login to your Canvas account with your FSU credentials.
  2. Access your Kaltura My Media page.
  3. Once in My Media, locate the specific video you want to check using the search field at the top of the page. Below the video title next to the bottom edge of the video thumbnail will show if you are the video's Owner as well as the date it was created.

  4. If you wish to simply see which of your videos are older, toggle the Sort by option at the top of the page to Creation Date - Descending.
