Overview

Below, you will find resources for how to copy content from your old Canvas course site or development site to your new Canvas site for this semester.

Accessibility Pro Tip: To avoid unnecessary clutter and accessibility remediation in your new course, only copy over the content you need. If you have a lot of content in your old course that you don't need for this term, consider copying over only the specific content you need instead of copying over the entire course.

Unpublished dev sites can be a great place to store content that you want to preserve but may not be relevant to the current term.

Make sure that you start by going into your new, blank Canvas site. Then, follow the directions in How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?.

If you only wish to copy an individual quiz, assignment, discussion, or content page over to your new course, see How do I select specific content as part of a course import?.
