Upgrade Existing Course Content
Whether you've already started designing your course or have imported a course over from an earlier term, DesignPLUS makes it easy to upgrade your content with just a few clicks. Upgrading your course content will make it compatible with the DesignPLUS Sidebar and help make your site more engaging and accessible to your students.
Upgrade a Single Course Page

Use this process if your intention is to upgrade a single page of Design Tools content to be compatible with the newer DesignPLUS Sidebar and design options in Canvas. This will enable new features, a more streamlined workflow, and flexibility to experiment.
Accessing the Upgrade Tool
DesignPLUS gives you two ways to access the Upgrade Tool.

Go to the Accessibility / Usability tab of the Sidebar and
select the Upgrade tool button in the Usability section.

Open the DesignPLUS notifications in the bottom right of the Sidebar. If any
legacy content is found, there will be a notification with a link to

Using the Upgrade Tool
To quickly update all styled content to be compatible with DesignPLUS features going forward, click on the Upgrade All ## Items (Recommended) button. This will make any HTML and CSS adjustments in the background that will make theme and style changes universal, update your styles for compatibility, check for ways to make your site more accessible, and make your content ready for any of the new features in the DesignPLUS Sidebar.
If you wish to see a more detailed list of the recommendations or wish to step through the process one-by-one, click on the Individual Upgrades (Advanced) dropdown menu to see an expanded list of change recommendations. You can accept individual changes on a granular level.
Click on the + plus next to each item to expand the result to see the stylistic upgrades recommended by DesignPLUS.
After accepting the recommended changes using the Upgrade All ## Items (Recommended) button or accepting the changes individually, the recommended changes will clear away.
